Notes on activities:

  • If you choose to perform with CSYSA and Blue Steel it is required that you are still up to the high standard of playing you were when a member of the Youth Symphony. If you make early enough reservations, music will be e-mailed to you so that you can practice prior to arriving for the weekend.

  • Once reservations are received, an e-mail with driving directions and precise time to events will be forwarded to you. You will receive a voucher for each of the events you have made reservations for when you arrive at your first event.

  • If you have scrapbooks, photos, etc. you would be willing to display during the tour, let us know in your reply.

  • Know other alumni?
    If you are in touch with other alumni and have contact information for them please include that with your reservation as well.

    Alumni Re-Connect Party: This event will be at the home of an alum with hors d’oeuvres and drinks! Bring any great stories of other alumni, tours, camps or your conductor to share!

    Alumni Rehearsals with Blue Steel and the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony: The Saturday morning rehearsal will be at Wasson H.S. and the Sunday morning dress rehearsal will be at the Pikes Peak Center. Have a chance to once again work under the direction of conductor Gary Nicholson, meet current students and have fun with the rock and roll band of the United States Air Force!

    Tour of the current Youth Symphony site: Enjoy refreshments and see and hear what is happening today with the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Association. See portraits of Young Artist Solo Competition winners through the years. Meet the artist commissioned to create the 30th anniversary painting.

    Albuquerque Youth Symphony and Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Concert: Enjoy two of the finest youth symphonies in the United States.

    Celebratory 30th Anniversary Luncheon honoring Conductor Laureate Charles Ansbacher, music director and conductor of the Colorado Springs Symphony for nearly 20 years: Hear from this world-famous conductor, observe the unveiling of the 30th Anniversary original artwork by Zandra Zieman-Foster, hear the Carnegie Hall-bound Pikes Peak Wind Symphony (top band of CSYSA). This event will be at the Antlers Hilton.


    Blue Steel and Colorado Springs Youth Symphony: Rock Out! in your reserved seat for the United States Air Force Rock band in concert with the Youth Symphony at the Pikes Peak Center. Alumni purchasing the performance option will play in this concert!

    Alumni After-Concert Soiree: Gather at a local restaurant following the concert for food and fun! An open mic will be available for anyone that wants to perform. Enjoy some photo and poster autograph opportunities with Founder and Artistic Director, Gary Nicholson and other conductors from over the years. Hors d’oeuvres and cash bar.
